PERSONAL INJURY
Personal Injury is not covered by vehicle CDW, personal travel insurance is strongly recommended.

ACCIDENTS
Not all Southern African vehicles are insured and it is also NOT compulsory to be insured against third party property.  It is therefore at times impossible to recover from these drivers, even through the legal system.  LIABLITY MUST NOT BE ADMITTED NOR ANY OF SETTLEMENT MADE.

• Accidents must be reported within 24 hours to the head office of MAUI and to the police and an accident report must be given to the return branch
• If the rental vehicle is involved in an accident and is not driveable, a replacement vehicle, if available, may be collected from the closest branch
• If the hirer requires a replacement vehicle to be delivered due to an accident, then these charges will be for the hirer’s account (R/N$ 5 000). If the hirer is unable or unwilling to take a replacement vehicle, no refunds for early termination will apply
• No refund of rental days lost will be considered during the period in which a replacement vehicle is being organised
• Should there be no replacement vehicle available, no refund for lost rental days will be considered
• Should the hirer continue with a replacement vehicle then a new rental agreement needs to be entered into where payment of another CDW and bond conditions will apply.
• Damage costs are established by a quotation of repair from MAUI panel beaters. No negotiation will be entered into in relation to these costs
• MAUI reserve the right to apply the above conditions as they deem fit.

INFRINGEMENTS
MAUI reserve the right to charge the hirer after the term of the rental for –
• Any traffic or parking fines.  An additional amount of R 350 for administration purposes will be added to the amount of the fine
• Any damages and accidents that we have not been made aware of on the return of the vehicle

VALUABLES
The hirer is responsible for insurance of personal property.  To avoid possible theft, valuables should not be left in the vehicle.  In major cities, it is advisable to leave the vehicle in a caravan park and utilise public transport or tours to visit the inner city.

SAFETY
• Vehicles are built on light truck chassis and do not have the road handling abilities of a car.  The following caution must be taken –
• Consideration for the condition of the road and the weather conditions; it is more difficult to control a vehicle on unsealed roads. Please note a Maui motorhome is not designed to drive on unsealed roads and damages (interior and exterior) may occur.
• Keep within the speed limit, not exceeding 100 km/h on sealed roads and 60 – 80 km/h on unsealed roads
• It is strongly recommended that driving at night be avoided; wandering animals often stray onto the roads

VEHICLE HANDOVER
Your vehicle is handed over to you without fuel unless you have requested it. Upon return no refund for excess fuel will be authorized. Should your vehicle be changed over at any time no refund for fuel will be given.

VEHICLE CONDITION
A pre-rental vehicle inspection will be required to be made by the hirer on collection of the vehicle.  The vehicle shall be deemed to be in good order, condition and repair and properly filled with oil and water, unless otherwise indicated in the vehicle condition report.

RENTAL DURATION
Minimum rental is 5 days and 15 days for collection/return in Botswana, Zimbabwe or Zambia. When calculating the number of days, the day of collection is counted as day one regardless of collection time.  The day of return is counted as the final day.

MULTIPLE RENTALS
Motorhome and car rentals with MAUI in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa can be combined to qualify for long-term rates, if the rental is within a three month period, i.e. one 14 day rental plus one 7 day rental qualifies for 21+ day rate.

SEASON CHANGE
The daily rental rate that applies on the date of pick up will be the applicable rate for the duration of the rental regardless of any season change during the term of the rental.

CHANGE OF VEHICLE
MAUI reserve the right to substitute a comparable or superior vehicle should the requested vehicle not be available due to unforeseen circumstances.  This shall not constitute a breach of contract and does not entitle the hirer to any refund.

BRANCH HOURS FOR PICK UP and DROP OFF
Branches are located in Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town, Windhoek, Maun and Victoria Falls.  Office hours are Monday – Friday from 08h00 – 16h30.  Outside of office hours collections and returns are by arrangement only.  All branches are closed on Christmas Day (25 December).

LICENCE
A valid non-endorsed driver’s licence is required; an international licence is preferred.

MINIMUM AGE

ROAD RESTRICTIONS
Vehicles may be taken into South Africa’s neighbouring states but are not allowed into Angola or Malawi.  All CDW cover is void if vehicles enter prohibited areas and the onus falls onto the hirer.

Faults with the radio, air conditioning, refrigerator or microwave are not classified as breakdowns; no days lost will be refunded for repair time on these items.

PETS
No pets are permitted in any vehicles.

EXCHANGE RATE/CURRENCY VARIATIONS
All credit card transactions are conducted in South African Rand.  Due to exchange rate fluctuations there could be some variance in any amount refunded compared to the amount initially charged.  No liability is accepted for any variance in this regard.

If a credit card is presented as payment not in the name of the hirer, the credit card holder will be jointly and severally liable as the hirer.

REFUNDS
In the unlikely event of a refund, this will be done according to the applicable agent rates and not the advertised per day rate.

We strongly recommend that clients ensure they take out the highest level of travel insurance. In many cases this will cover any losses incurred if you are forced to cancel your booking.

RESERVATION / VEHICLE CONFIRMATION
Maui reserve the right to upgrade a client to another vehicle category without prior notice. This does not constitute a breach of contract or non-performance.

Terms of booking on this website

Information disclaimer
The rates on this website are often heavily discounted. This is due to our negotiated rates and bulk buying power. On very rare occasions, a rate may be displayed incorrectly due to our, or a vehicle supplier's error. In such a case, if you book with us at a quoted rate that is incorrect, we will notify you of any price change and give you the option to proceed or cancel. We make every effort to keep information on our site up to date, but we cannot guarantee this website is free of errors or omissions and retain the right to update or change the information published at any time.

Liability
To the extent permitted by law we/the owners of this website will not be liable to you or to any third party (whether in contract, tort, or otherwise) for any direct, indirect or consequential loss or damage (including but not limited to any accident, injury, delay or loss of enjoyment) arising out of your reliance upon information contained on this website, including but not limited to your use (or inability to use) any products or services described or procured through this website.

When you pick up your vehicle, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the supplier of the vehicle. Your rental and use of the vehicle will be governed by the terms of the rental agreement and any other documentation or information provided to you by the supplier at the time you pick up your vehicle. The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier’s rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.

While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice. The deposit required to secure your vehicle (as shown on the secure booking page) will only be processed on your credit card when your booking is confirmed. Please note that a 1.95% credit card or debit card surcharge will be added when your payment is processed.

A booking is confirmed when you have been emailed a confirmation voucher and at this stage the deposit is processed on your card and becomes non-refundable and any cancellation fees stated in the supplier's terms apply. Upon receipt of your confirmation, please check your details carefully and notify us immediately if there are any incorrect details, as it may not be possible to make changes at a later date.

If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Information disclosure
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.

Amendments
Please note that some suppliers treat an amendment as a new booking and apply the rate current at the time the amendment is made to recalculate the entire booking amount (not just the days changed). If the rental period is increased, an additional deposit may be required. If the rental period is shortened which results in a reduction of the rental charges, the deposit amount will remain unchanged, and the difference between the original and revised deposit is forfeited (it cannot be used towards remaining rental charges). To request a change to a confirmed booking, please use the alterations request link on your confirmation. Any alterations are subject to availability and the approval of the supplier. In addition to the alteration policy of the supplier stated in their terms, the following charges will apply:
Motorhome rental alterations (all charges stated in local currency): 25.00
The alteration fee will not be charged if your alteration request is not possible.

Vehicle Capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.

Refund Policy
We are committed to providing a quality service and aim for complete customer satisfaction. In the event of cancellation, any refunds or penalties are detailed in the terms and conditions of your selected vehicle that you are asked to read and accept at time of booking.
